MCC Board of Trustee for District 7 Resigns

Dec. 8, 2023

Geneva Watley, District 7 trustee, resigned from the McLennan Community College board of trustees effective December 31, 2023. The Board officially accepted Watley’s resignation at the monthly board meeting Dec. 6. Watley was first appointed to the Board on March 25, 2008.

“It is with sadness, that I acknowledge that Trustee Geneva Watley has decided to step down from our Board,” said MCC President Johnette McKown. “She is possibly the nicest person I have ever known. Geneva cares about what is important. She cares about people and wants the best for everyone whether that might be our students, our employees, or our community. Her quiet, but strong, presence will be missing from the Board table. She has been a friend to all of us.”

District 7 includes the following precincts: 51 (partial), 55, 62, 63 (partial), 75, 76, 77, 78 (partial), 79, and 80. View the District's map of precincts.

To hold the office of trustee, one must be a qualified voter, hold residency in the state of Texas for at least 12 months and reside in District 7 for six months before the day on which the appointment is made, serve without compensation, and take the proper oath of office before taking up the duties thereof.

The person appointed to fill the unexpired term by the board of trustees for District 7 will serve until the expiration of the term in May 2025.
